About Virtual HW and Channels
All Recording channels in VSLogger server grouped by HW type , e.g. recording boards from specific manufacturer.
Some HW types don't have actual corresponding hardware, e.g. VOIP HW and channels
New Hardware type (Virtual HW and channels) was introduced to manage recordings generated by special sources , such as:
- Recordings replicated from some other recorder (let's call it a source recorder or a Satellite Recorder)
- Screen capture recordings from the PCs which is not associated with any phone line
Virtual HW Trunks
Virtual channels managed through VSLogger UI, Setup Panel , HW section (see picture below).
Virtual channels added in groups (we call the Virtual trunks). Each trunk corresponds to specific source (satellite) recorder, replicating recordings to configured virtual channels.
Also, single trunk can be configured to accept screen capture recordings from the PCs running Versadial Desktop assistant software, but not associated with any phone recording channels.
Configure Virtual channels used for screen capture
In Hardware Virtual (Versadial) panel, press Add Button .
New Virtual Trunk dialog will open, with following fields available:
- ID - type trunk ID, e.g. SCREENS
- Protocol - select DTA (Desk Top Assistant)
- Number of channels - specify number of PCs you plan to configure for screen capture without associated phone line.
Press submit to add new trunk to configuration (it is not saved yet).
Important : Press "Save and Reload" on the top for the Hardware Panel. UI will be closed and recorder service reloaded to initialize your changes
Reopen User interface . From this point virtual channels are available for selection in "Desktop Assistant" section of the Setup
Note: Virtual channel is not needed if Desktop assitant is associated some with phone recording channel. In such case screen capture recordings will be saved along with audio only recordings under the same channel number. Even more, screen capture recordings initiated by call audio recording start will be merged with audio recording into Video with Audio recording
Configure Virtual channels to hold recordings replicated from other recorder
Let's assume that you need to replicate recordings from some 4 channel recorder (e.g. from remote office recorder) to current recorder
In Hardware Virtual (Versadial) panel, press Add Button .
New Virtual Trunk dialog will open, with following fields available:
- ID - type trunk ID, e.g. RECORDER1. It should match to HTTP diskset settings of the remote (source) recorder.
- Protocol - select SATELLITE (Satellite recorder)
- Number of channels - specify number of replicated channels from the remote PC (4 channels in this example)
- Hash Algorithm - SHA-256, SHA-1 or SIMPLE. Select desired option. It should match to HTTP diskset settings of the remote (source) recorder.
- Salt - Enter secret phrase of some kind , e.g. qwerqwe5r32ef23qftr2345t. It should match to HTTP diskset settings of the remote (source) recorder.
Press submit to add new trunk to configuration (it is not saved yet).
Important : Press "Save and Reload" on the top for the Hardware Panel. UI will be closed and recorder service reloaded to initialize your changes .
Note: Remote recorder have to be configured for replication to these virtual channels.
Replication is configured in
config storage section of CLI,
HTTP diskset.
satellite_id, hash type and sallt should be set to the same values as corresponding values in virtual trunk.
