Vaults and Recording Encryption

Starting VSLogger 4.8.0.X versions VSLogger server has a new encryption feature that requires an additional license. The Vault is similar in nature to a bank vault, in that your valuables (recordings), are stored and locked away. Without the key, data cannot be accessed, recovered, or played. Data is secure and safely stored away to assist businesses in complying with HIPPA standards and PCI requirements

When administrator opens the vault, users can keep accessing and listening to the recordings. The moment you remove the Key(lock the vault), the recordings are locked away and only static will be heard if played back.  The locked vaults keys must be stored in a safe location. To regain access to a group(s) of recordings, you reopen the corresponding Vault (make Key available).  Please note, if you lose the Key, you lose access to the data locked by it. 

VSLogger Vaults Administration

Vaults enabled and Administered by VSLogger CLI Tool application installed on recorder PC.

A special section in the Tools menu of the application allows to manage Vaults (and associated encryption keys):
- create new Vaults (keys)
- disable, enable Vaults (keys)  
- set current Vault  (keys)  
- import,  export Vaults (keys) into text files to be stored outside of the recorder PC 

CLI config storage main command allows to enable actual encryption function of the recording service activity based on current Vault:
- config storage main Y/N

Note: to enable encryption  feature, Vaults license should be available for all channels configured in the system 

Suggested Sample Usage

1. Decide on the period of time to be recorded with specific vault(key) e.g. one month.
2. Decide on history period available for  immediate access for playback, e.g. three month
3. Establish internal administration procedure to include:  

• Creation of new vault,
• making new vault current,
• disabling (locking Vaults used more than three than three months ago).
• Optionally export to text and removing unused vaults form the server at all 

Results of this usage policy: 
1. Users can search and create reports for  all recordings in the system, but playback is available only for recording with available (unlocked ) Vaults
