License key options
- Versions prior 4.7.0.0 , VSLogger licensing was based on HW (USB) keys.
- Starting with version 4.7.0.0 , VSLogger licensing moved to software activation keys only. This was done based on common demand to install software in a virtual machine environment, which often made using hardware keys a problem. Software licenses also allowed easy management of term licenses and subscriptions
- Starting version 4.8.1.0 , VSLogger licensing will reintroduce HW(USB) license key as an option. This is done based on many requests, from customers who are preferring hardware keys for different reasons.
Note: HW Key licensing vs. Software Key licensing does not limit the software features or access to updates. The main difference is software activation requires an internet connection to authenticate the license, no other information is sent.
VSLogger Licensing - Versions starting 4.7.XX and newer (SW and HW license keys)
Older versions information see here VSLogger Licensing - Versions 4.6.XX
VSLogger License provided in the form of an activation code, which has a limited number of activations. Following license options can be issued, based on ordered features:
- TDM licenses - number of channels enabled for recording through Analog, digital PBX or T1/E1/ISDN recording boards. Supported voice recording boards are required to utilize these licenses.
- VoIP licenses - number of channels enabled for recording VoIP calls or streams. This feature is software only, and no extra hardware is required.
- Screen capture licenses - the number of workstations permitted to capture screen video. Single license required to record one or two PC screens
- G.729 licenses - the number of channels allowed to use G.729 codec simultaneously
- Vaults (and encryption)license - allows to enable encryption functionality. Available from version 4.8.0.0

Dynamic Licensing
If you wish to record more devices than the available number of specific (TDM or VoIP ) licenses, you can achieve this by setting one or more dynamic license group(s). Dynamic License groups allow you to enable more channels for recording than the number of available licenses. This feature offers some savings in exchange for the risk of not recording some of the calls.
Example scenario:
- The site has 40 TDM licenses and 60 analog telephones to be recorded
- 20 phones should be always recorded
- Remaining 40 lines should be recorded if the spare license from the remaining 20 licenses is available. Ex: If 21 active calls come in on those 40 lines, one of those calls will not be recorded.
Configuration:
- 20 line licenses allocated for 20 phones to be always recorded. 20 channels associated with those phones will have licgroup: none
- 20 line licenses added to 1st license group. Remaining 40 channels (40 phones) assigned to 1st license group - licgroup: 1
See license group configuration listing.
