About DB Maintenance Utilities

Part of the VSLogger CLI Tool, accessible from the Tools menu > DB Maintenance. It provides following functionality:

• VSLogger database Backup and Restore operations
• Previous Backups List
• Data Base maintenance and optimization operations 
• Repopulate DB from the recordings metadata files

VSLogger database Backup and Restore operations

Backups section lists previously completed backups for MAIN and NET disk sets. Double click on MAIN or NET folder to display content.

Press BACKUP DB > MAIN or  BACKUP DB > NET to initiate the backup of the selected disk set.  

Note: it is recommended to stop recording and connection services while performing backups. Automatic scheduled backups planned to be introduced in future revisions: 4.6.3.X.

Database maintenance and optimization operations

Run these operations in sequence when DB performance deteriorates

• CREATE INDICES  - rebuilds DB indices for search optimization. 
• ANALYZE  - does miscellaneous optimization on the database.
• COMPACT  - compacts database.

Repopulate DB from the recordings metadata

VSLogger recorder creates special metadata files along with recordings. These metadata files can be used to rebuild the database if it is corrupted or lost, or when you move recordings from one recorder to the other.

To rebuild whole or part of the database:

• Select from .DAT, .S2T, or Both (.DAT = recordings, .S2T = Speech Analytics) 
• Select drive where recordings stored
• Select Date range of interest
• Select target Database(MAIN or NET) where entries should be inserted or overwritten
• Press Start

All above operations are performed assuming that target DATABASE is located in a folder specified in this field.

By default, Data Folder location is C:\ProgramData, but in some situations and installations, Administrator might select different location 

Default locations:

Databases - C:\ProgramData\Adutante\vslogger\data\db

Backups - C:\ProgramData\Adutante\vslogger\data\db\backups
